Lecture at the Allard Pierson Museum
On November 17, 2022, artistic director Harm van der Laan will take us through the history of the circus. New forms of circus are becoming increasingly popular. Contemporary circus presents itself as an innovative art form, full of crossovers with other disciplines and performances on social themes. But if you delve into history, you will soon learn that circus and theater were historically very close to each other. In this lecture, Harm van der Laan takes us on a journey through four millennia of circus and acrobatic theater forms, based on the circus collection. Harm van der Laan teaches circus history at Codarts Rotterdam and is artistic director of Tall Tales Company. This interesting free lecture will take place on Thursday, November 17 at 15.00 p.m Allard Pierson, Amsterdam.
