Opening concert: In your hands

The Bach Festival Dordrecht opens with an ode to 300 years of the St. John Passion. B'Rock Orchestra & Vocal Consort, led by guitarist/composer Kalle Kalima, present a unique chamber version of the work with only four singers, strings, flute, vintage synthesizer and electric guitar. The essences of the selected arias and choruses are meanwhile visualized in an emotional language of movement, tension and liberation, by four acrobats from artist in residence Tall Tales Company. A unique musical and visual translation. Experience the work like you have never done before, it is Bach at the cutting edge and at an incredible height!

B'Rock and Tall Tales examine the St John Passion in this version. Perhaps Bach's immortal setting of Jesus' last days is essentially… about us. Although the music and lyrics are centuries old, they invite us to think about the choices we make in our own lives. How do we take responsibility, how do we face our fears, how do we deal with loss and how do we dream about a future, any future?
